First Bachelors Degree Awarded!

In the fall of 2006, Brother Mowlid Khalif embarked on his educational journey at Sharia Academy seeking to increase his iman and knowledge of Islamic Sharia. Almost four years later, by the grace Allah, Brother Mowlid became the first student to graduate with a bachelor`s degree from the institution. Br. Mowlid received his degree at a ceremony held in Houston, which was attended by several Sharia Academy instructors.

"I now see myself as a student of Fiqh and Sharia," Br Mowlid said. "I can now leverage my knowledge earned at SAA in making Dawah to Muslims and Non-Muslims."

Br. Mowlid says he joined Sharia Academy because he wanted to benefit from the experiences of highly qualified and respected scholars whom he looks up to as true role models in their knowledge and application of Islam. He believes earning this degree has given him much needed credibility to do dawah and given recognition to his knowledge. Some of the classes that had a significant impact on his thinking included Authority of Sunnah, Usool ul Fiqh (Fundamentals of Fiqh), and Fiqh of Dawah, he says. Br. Mowlid`s quest for knowledge continues - he intends to enroll for graduate studies InshaAllah.
 
"I want to take advantage of the flexibility SAA offers," he says, he says, explaining that the institute’s flexible program allowed him to progress despite his busy personal and travel schedule.

He advised his fellow students to remain focused, self disciplined and to be humble.
"Never give up," he said. "InshaAllah I will continue studying the religion and I will teach others what my scholars taught me when I was student."
 
This promising young brother who is a hafidh of the Quran mashaAllah now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina where he works as a leader for the Hifdh program at the An-Noor Quran Academy, ran by the Islamic Association of Raleigh. He says he encourages everyone to enroll in at least one course at Sharia Academy.

“I would like to see SAA offer courses in my community,” he added.
