Two SAA branches celebrated the first completion of their first diploma programs recently, mashaAllah.
Sharia Academy Houston Branch students who completed their first diploma in Islamic Studies were awarded their certificates at a lively graduation ceremony in January after finishing 12 courses and fulfilling all the requirements. Twenty students, brothers and sisters, attained this achievement. Honored guests included Dr. Salah AsSawy, president of the academy, and Dr. Hatem Al-Haj, academy dean, as well as branch officials. In an inspiring speech, guest speaker Dr. Omar Shahin, the chairman of the North American Imams Federation, praised the students` efforts. He then invited all the graduating brothers to attend NAIF`s annual conference in February so that they could learn first hand some of the future da`wah responsibilities that await them. View Houston graduation pictures here Meanwhile, SAA Detroit hosted its graduation ceremony on Feb. 28th to mark the achievement of 34 students. Almost 500 people attended the event at the Beverly Hills Academy, which was moderated by Imam Chadi Zaza. In his keynote speech by Dr. Salah Assawy, reminded the students on the importance of learning Sharia. Both Detroit and Houston began classes for the 2nd diploma program in Islamic Studies. Houston also began its new first diploma program in February and more than 100 students have registered and attended one or more seminars. In addition, Sh. Mamdouh Mahmoud of SAA Houston is now teaching two courses at local Islamic centers in Houston to mark the launch of Sharia Academy`s local instructor program:
Fiqh of Worship 1 at Masjid Al-Ansar, The Woodlands, every Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and
History of Fiqh at Masjid Al-Salam, North Houston every Monday from 7 to 9 pm.
The two courses, which each have more than 40 students, aim to introduce Sharia Academy to local communities and encourage attendees to register for future on-site seminars or online courses inshaAllah.
